“Yorkmont 5000” prize giveaway and fireworks on Saturday; SCoNE Sprint Cars on Sunday
WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Devil’s Bowl Speedway will celebrate the Memorial Day holiday in style this weekend, May 28-29. The two-track facility will pack in two days of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series stock car racing action and much more into the weekend, all at regular admission pricing.
The party starts on Saturday night on the half-mile Asphalt Track at Devil’s Bowl with a fireworks show and the first-ever “Yorkmont Memorial Day 5000” contest presented by Yorkmont Auto Auctions of Fair Haven, Vt. One lucky person will win $5,000 by participating in the contest, with a chance to double their winnings.
The contest is open to anyone age 18 or older who purchases a regular-price general admission ticket on Saturday, May 28. Each fan will receive a contest card and will visit with 10 local automobile dealers at display booths set up on the Midway between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. After getting verification from each dealer, cards will be entered into a blind draw with one lucky fan winning the $5,000 prize with no strings attached.
Yorkmont Auto Auctions has even offered to double the prize: If the winner of the $5,000 agrees to later purchase an approved vehicle from one of the participating dealers, Yorkmont will make a $5,000 down payment toward the purchase of the vehicle, bringing the total winnings to an incredible $10,000.
Kids can win, too, as Yorkmont will give away 25 one-day passes throughout the evening to Six Flags Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom in Lake George, N.Y.
The racing on Saturday night is stacked with action, as the Bond Auto Parts Sportsman Modifieds, Central Vermont Motorcycles Late Models, Rosen & Berger Renegades, and Portland Glass Mini Stocks are all on track, along with the season’s first wild-and-crazy 50-lap Enduro race. Wrapping up the huge event will be a holiday fireworks display.
On Sunday, May 29, the focus shifts to the 3/10-mile Dirt Track at Devil’s Bowl, as the wild, winged, and wicked-fast Sprint Cars of New England (SCoNE) tour makes its first appearance of the year. The weekly NASCAR Whelen All-American Series is also on board for the event with the Central Vermont Motorcycles Sportsman Modifieds, Rosen & Berger Renegades, and Portland Glass Mini Stocks.
Both events have regular general admission prices at just $12 for adults, $10 for seniors age 62+, and $10 for students age 13-17. Kids age 12 and under are always admitted for free. Racing begins at 6:00 p.m. both nights.
