May 21-22 —WEST RUTLAND — Bas-relief sculpture is an optical illusion, transforming three dimensions into two. Commonly held to be one of the most difficult forms to master, instructor Marsha Pels will provide step-by-step guidance through the process in a two-day workshop May 21-22 at the Carving Studio and Sculpture Center. Simple mold-making techniques will also be explained.
Marsha Pels has lectured and taught widely throughout the United States and Europe, as well as consistently shown and been reviewed since 1981. She holds a BFA degree from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA from Syracuse University. Ms. Pels lives and works in Brooklyn, N.Y. and is adjunct associate professor at the College of Staten Island.
