RUTLAND — NeighborWorks of Western Vermont will be conducting a residential survey of Northwest Rutland. Volunteers will be going door-to-door, asking residents to participate in a survey about their community. This is the second time NeighborWorks will be administering this survey in the roughly 15-block area north of State Street and west of Grove Street.
In 2013, the initial survey was completed by 20 volunteers who collected surveys from 230 households. Coinciding with the beginning of Project VISION, the survey provided insight to the lives of community members in the neighborhood so that further actions to impact change would be well informed.
This April, the survey will be repeated in the same target area to see how attitudes have changed over the intervening three years in which public funding and engagement has worked to raze and rehab blighted and vacant properties; pave streets and sidewalks; improve street lighting; and many other revitalization efforts.
Volunteers will be out on April 15 and 22 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and April 16 and 23 from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. A community meeting will be held June 18 at 6 p.m. in Baxter Street Park to discuss results.
