KILLINGTON — The Killington Mountain School Freestyle team and coaches were recently lauded for the program’s success when they were in Steamboat Springs for Nationals. Head U.S. Ski Team coach (and former KMS Freestyle program director) Matt Gnoza proudly announced that KMS had been named the Freestyle Club Program of the Year and that Coach Nori Pepe had been named Freestyle Domestic Coach of the Year.
Kris Pepe, Freestyle mogul program director/head coach shared his thoughts on the team award. “Killington is a special place for mogul skiing. We have an amazing Freestyle community here. This award is wonderful recognition of the hard work put in by our coaches, parents, volunteers and especially athletes,” he said.
When asked about her coaches award, Nori Pepe (Freestyle development director/events coordinator) shared, “It’s such an honor to receive the USSA Domestic Coach of the Year Award. The KMS community has made its way into the spotlight this year by hosting a string of successful events including the NorAm Cup Finals and the East Coast Championships,” she said. “Additionally, the strength of our athletes at all levels has contributed to our success. While I am thrilled to receive such a prestigious award, this would not have been possible without the great staff at the KMS. I would like to thank the Killington Mountain and KSC coaches for all of their support, as well as the KMS Freestyle Program Director, Kris Pepe and the KMS/KSC Events Manager & Director, Chuck Hughes. This is an exciting way to finish the season.”
Kris Pepe shared, “Coaches at the development level rarely get the credit and recognition they deserve. Our development pipeline is the most important part of our team. Nori is the absolute best at what she does. It is great to see her recognized for everything she does for our program.”
