March 18-19 — PITTSFIELD — The Peak Races staff has confirmed, the 2016 Peak Snowshoe Race is happening as scheduled, March 18 to 19 in Pittsfield! Despite what Mother Nature has to offer—or not offer—the race must go on. This year, Peak is partnering with Vermont Food Bank, with $5 of every registration going to the that cause. Back in January, they had a day for participants to sign up at peak.com, with $15 of each entry going to the food bank. They are a dedicated group, helping a worthy cause.
The races are as follows:
The Peak Ultra Snowshoe Race is a 100-mile race starting Friday, March 18. The Peak Snowshoe Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10k options all start Saturday March 19. The course will be a rugged 6.5 mile loop in the Green Mountains of Vermont. Each loop has 1,200 vertical feet.
Lodging will be at Amee Farm, Trailside Inn and Swiss Farm. Camping is available at many state parks in the area that offer it at this time of year, and lots of smaller motels and B&B’s are around.
Rules for the race? Don’t cut the course. Don’t litter. Snowshoes are mandatory. Sorry, no dogs.
Parking will be available at Riverside Farm on just off Route 100. There will be signs and a designated parking area. For info, visit peak.com.
