Friday, March 4 at 6 p.m. — RUTLAND — The Castleton Downtown Gallery in Rutland will feature the works of local artist Nancy P. Weis running from Feb. 24 through March 26, with an artist reception scheduled for Friday, March 4 at 6 p.m.
Entitled “States of Mind,” the exhibit will feature a variety of works using mixed media, which use anthropology and archaeology as metaphors for discovery of universal inner meaning.
“For most of my life as an artist I have made collages of natural objects and materials, placing small bits of leaf and bark, rusty metal run over by cars, stained paper, seeds, and colored stone into compositions that call attention to them and give them importance and significance,” said Weis. “These small things in their billions are mulch or trash, but each individual piece is unique, and sometimes astoundingly beautiful.”
The Castleton Downtown Gallery is located on Center Street Alley in Rutland and is open Wednesday through Saturday with hours of operation from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
