Friday, March 4 at 5 p.m. — RUTLAND — The Chaffee Art Center opened its “Water” exhibit on Feb. 19, and is holding a reception for the show on Friday, March 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibit is on display through March 25.
“Water” celebrates the work of six Chaffee juried watercolor artists and features an installation highlighting the work of Pure Water for the World, an international nonprofit whose mission is to improve the health and livelihood of children and families in the developing world by partnering with communities to establish safe water solutions. The artists are Denise Letendre Bach, Brian D. Cohen, Ann McFarren, Carrie Pill, Lynn D. Pratt, and Kleng T. Walker.
Watercolor paintings, many highlighting clean water, create an environment which helps to magnify the importance of the work performed by Pure Water for the World.
The Pure Water team partners with rural and underserved communities, where there are high incidences of waterborne diseases and a scarcity of aid. It establishes comprehensive safe water solutions that include the essential tools and education to serve all community members.
The team provides water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) education and capacity building programs, training other organizations to accelerate access to safe water and sanitation for all. They monitor every project and program delivered, to ensure effectiveness and sustainability. Executive Director Carolyn Mueb is a resident of Rutland. Meet Mueb and the artists at the opening.
