Wilton to speak on the importance of citizen involvement in local government

CASTLETON — On Thursday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. the Castleton University College Republican Club will be hosting Rutland City Treasurer Wendy Wilton to speak about the importance of citizen involvement in local government. The event will take place in Jeffords Hall auditorium located off South Street in Castleton.

The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
Treasurer Wilton is the first woman to be elected treasurer for the City of Rutland and has held the position since 2007. During her tenure she worked to strengthen the financial condition of the city’s finances, including the pension plan, and improve transparency in the city’s reporting. The city achieved a clean audit opinion under her management since 2011.
Wilton was a candidate for Vermont State Treasurer in 2012 and garnered 40 percent of the vote.
