Feb. 12-14 — RUTLAND — The Rutland Recreation and Parks Department and Downtown Rutland Partnership have announced that they will lengthen the city’s annual Winterfest to three days, Feb. 12 to 14. The Center Street hill closes Friday, Feb. 12, 6 to 9 p.m. so that the Public Works Department can bring in fresh snow from its stockpiled snow stash, and place hay bales as safety barriers along a sled course from the top of the hill into downtown on Center Street. A disc jockey will provide music, and consumers may buy hot chocolate.
Saturday festivities are in Main Street Park, with ice skating, snow-carving, and broomball on ice. (Bring your own helmet and skates for broomball.) Sunday sees a switch to Giorgetti Park, with a cardboard sledding challenge for children, ice skating at Giorgetti Arena, and a Teddy Bear Carry obstacle course.
