Vermont offers year-round freshness

By Skye Chalmers

Vermont’s farmers’ markets offer fresh vegetables and specialty foods, even in winter.

Vermont is a pioneer of the farm-to-table movement, and it boasts more farmers’ markets per capita than any other state in the country. Fresh produce, crafts, baked goods, meats, and specialty foods are available nearly year-round. Locally, we’re privileged to have the Vermont Farmers Market open all winter, right through May when the outdoor market opens, at the Vermont Farmers Food Center, 251 West Street, Rutland. The indoor market is open on Wednesdays, from 3 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
