Okemo named among best Vermont workplaces for the third consecutive year

LUDLOW–Okemo Mountain Resort was recently named one of the 2016 Best Places to Work in Vermont. The annual list of the Best Places to Work in Vermont was created by Vermont Business Magazine, the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, the Vermont Department of Economic Development, the Vermont Department of Labor, the Society for Human Resource Management- Vermont State Council and Best Companies Group.

“At Okemo everything we do as a family business reflects our desire to support our employees in what they do to create ‘The Okemo Difference’ for our guests,” said Okemo Mountain Resort Co-owner and Vice President Diane Mueller. “Each day the Okemo team takes on challenges and opportunities with a work ethic that is second to none. Their desire to succeed is mixed with smiles, laughter and the friendships we cherish. Every one of us, in what we call ‘The Okemo Family,’ is honored to receive this award for the third consecutive year.”

This statewide survey and awards program, now in its tenth year, is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Vermont, benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce and businesses. Okemo was a 2014 and 2015 Best Places to Work in Vermont honoree. It was the first ski resort to make the prestigious list. The 2016 Best Places to Work in Vermont list is made up of 38 companies.

To be considered for participation, companies had to fulfill several eligibility requirements. They also entered a two-part survey process. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Vermont and also analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final rankings.

The final rankings for each category will be announced at a special awards presentation on March 31, 2015 at the ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center.
