No one injured in three car crash on Route 4

MENDON — On Friday, Jan. 1 at about 11:27 a.m., troopers from the Vermont State Police Rutland Barracks responded to a motor vehicle crash on Route 4 in Mendon.  Investigation revealed a vehicle driven by Sage Brow, age 18 of Rutland, was traveling east at a high rate of speed, when her 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier crossed over the solid yellow line and side-swiped two cars traveling in the opposite direction, a 2008 Toyota Camry driven by Richard Sweeney, age 68 of South Royalton, and a 2010 Toyota Rav 4 driven by Tanya Crawford-Stemple, age 45 of Northfield.

After colliding with the other vehicles, Brow skidded off the roadway in her Cavalier and rolled one time before coming to a position of uncontrolled rest on all four tires. The car was deemed a total loss. The other two cars received severe contact damage to the driver’s side.

Brow was reportedly not wearing her seatbelt, but was not listed as injured, according to police. Nor were the occupants of the other vehicles.

Route 4 was temporarily shut down while troopers were assisted on scene by Rutland City Fire Department and Regional Ambulance.  This crash remains under investigation and anyone who may have witnessed it is asked to contact Trooper Rider at (802) 773-9101.
