Billings Farm open for weekends in winter

January — WOODSTOCK —Billings Farm & Museum will open on Saturdays and Sundays in January and February, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring the operating dairy farm, restored 1890 Farm House, plus programs and activities. Visit the dairy farm for interactive programs with the livestock and the afternoon milking of the herd, which begins at 3:15 p.m.  Explore the restored and furnished 1890 Farm House with its progressive “modern” conveniences and warm up by the kitchen woodstove.

“A Place in the Land,” the Academy Award®-nominee film which chronicles the development of the Billings Farm, will be shown in the theater. Enjoy a cup of hot spiced cider in the visitor center.

In January, Billings will host the exhibit, Civil War 150, on display weekends, Jan. 1 – 18. Drawing upon letters, personal accounts, and images, Civil War 150 invites Americans to understand how soldiers, presidents, freedmen, and families struggled to address the nature of democracy and citizenship, the human toll of civil war, and the role of the president in wartime. Civil War 150 is a national traveling exhibition organized by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.

Billings Farm is located one-half mile north of the Woodstock village green on Vt. Rt. 12. For more info, call 802-457-2355 or visit billingsfarm.org.
