Jorge Mada and Janelle Howard

Janelle Howard, a gemologist at Waldron and Rhodes Fine Jewelers is to be married to Jorge Mada, the vacation rental coordinator of TPW Managment in Killington. Janelle Howard is the daughter of Zella and Foster Howard of Rutland, she is a Rutland High School alumni and former Miss Vermont Teen Queen. Jorge Mada is the son of Mary York and Jorge Mada of Phoenix, AZ, he is a three-time Spartan Beast finisher in Killington and a dedicated basketball player in summer and winter leagues.

Jorge Mada proposed during a sunrise beach walk in Cape Elizabeth, Maine on Dec. 7. The couple met while living and working in Arizona and have dated for nearly eight years. They moved to Rutland, Vt., in 2010 and bought their home in Rutland in 2015. They plan to marry in 2016.
