Rutland Regional announces new marketing and public relations manager

RUTLAND—Rutland Regional Medical Center, the second-largest healthcare facility in Vermont, announced Friday, Nov. 20, that Gerianne Smart has been named the manager of marketing and public relations. Smart brings extensive experience and expertise in marketing and public relations, as well as strategic planning, process improvement and collaboration.

“Gerianne’s diverse skill set enables her to bring a strong strategic vision and focus for Rutland Regional’s marketing efforts,” said Darren Childs, director of marketing and public relations and quality improvement. “She is highly collaborative, results-driven and comes with a depth of experience.”

Prior to joining Rutland Regional, Smart owned and operated Smart Communication and was director of marketing and communications for ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center.

“Rutland Regional is a warm, inviting and community-minded organization and I am delighted to be a part of it and part of the talented and dedicated marketing team,” said Smart.

Smart lives in Ferrisburgh and in her spare time is president of the Friends of the Vergennes Opera House, an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that manages the 118-year-old theatre in historic Vergennes.
