One of the old street signs being auctioned off after West Rutland replaced them with larger and more reflective ones.

(No more need to swipe them!)

WEST RUTLAND—Need a one-of-a-kind holiday gift? The town of West Rutland is auctioning off their inventory of old road signs. Due to new federal regulations, all town road signs needed to be replaced with larger, more reflective signs. The new signs are installed and the old signs are now available for sale at www.onlineauction.com search “cfitzgerald.” Bids start at $10.

“I had many requests from residents . . . what are we going to do with the old signs? I quickly realized the demand was high and these roads signs had sentimental value. It’s the perfect decoration for a dorm room or garage and with the holidays around the corner it’s a perfect gift,” said Mary Ann Goulette, town manager.

The auction is now active and will run until 8 a.m.,Dec. 18. All proceeds will go towards streetscape improvements in town, trees, flowers and benches. Any questions contact Christen Fitzgerald at 438-2263 or email [email protected].
