HARTFORD — At approximately 2 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, Hartford Fire and Police personnel responded to a 911 call reporting an unconscious man at a private residence on Christian Street in the town of Hartford. Upon arrival, paramedics found a 66-year-old male deceased. The subject was subsequently identified as Thomas Casey, who was determined to be the resident of the Christian Street address.
A known male acquaintance, identified as William Roberts, age 60 of Hartford, Vt., was also at the home and reported finding Casey unconscious when he awoke overnight and called 911.
The two men had reportedly been drinking Sunday evening when they became involved in a physical altercation. The nature of the altercation is being investigated. Roberts was transported to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries he sustained during the physical altercation. Roberts is cooperating with investigators at this time.
Casey’s body was transported to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death. Preliminary results released Tuesday, Nov. 10, of an autopsy conducted by the office of the medical examiner indicates the cause of death to be a heart attack. The autopsy also failed to reveal any trauma suffered by the victim to indicate the physical altercation between the Mr. Casey and Mr. Roberts played any role in Mr. Casey’s death. At this time the investigation at the scene has been completed. However, the results of the autopsy are preliminary, and investigators will await the final results to officially close the case.
