QUECHEE — The Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) is proud to present local artist Cathy Cone and her photography exhibition featuring VINS’ birds. Cone is an innovator combining digital printing, paint and photography. Cone’s works will be on display at VINS Nature Center from Nov. 1 through Jan. 3, 2016.
Cone, painter and photographer, states, “I make photographs as a way of transforming a traumatic or ordinary experience into a bridge. This bridge has the potential for magic, alchemy and poetry….” Cone and her husband, master printer Jon Cone, founded Cone Editions Press in 1980 in Port Chester, N.Y. as a collaborative printmaking workshop. Cone Editions is now located in East Topsham, Vt. where Cathy Cone is director of the Workshops and Studio.
Cone was awarded the Vermont Art Fellowships. Some of her exhibitions include Wiesman Art Musuem, University of Albama, DeCordova Museum, and The Vermont Center for Photography. Her works are in the collections of IBM, MCI, and American Express as well as the Hallmark Fine Art Collections.
During Cone’s art show at VINS, a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of her artwork will go to VINS to support its mission of environmental education, research, and avian wildlife rehabilitation.
