Saturday Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. — RUTLAND — The Rutland Curbstone Chorus, the all-male barbershop a cappella singing group, will present their annual show “Ten Years of Singing” on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. The performance will be held at the Rutland High School Theater.
Formed in 2006, the chorus has performed all over Rutland County, plus Middlebury, Burlington, and Ticonderoga and Granville, N.Y. Performances included concerts, parades, holiday events, Olympic celebrations, nursing and retirement homes, athletic events, birthdays and funerals, and Best in Show in the “Really Big Show” event.
The show will also feature the all-female a cappella barbershop chorus Maiden Vermont from Middlebury. The maidens are a multigenerational group of women that have been performing since 2004. Their 50 voices have sung at First Night festivals, the Burlington Dragon Boat festival, many summer concerts, Festival on the Green in Middlebury, the Flynn Theater, and their annual seasonal shows at Middlebury’s Town Hall Theater. The most memorable performance was singing the Canadian and American national anthems at the Boston Red Sox Vermont Day game before 28,000 fans.
Also performing in the show are the special guests The Beelzebubs, a Tufts University male a cappella group featuring Rutland’s very own Taylor Ampatiellos. They have performed all over the U.S., and among the most notable performances were the popular television shows, “Glee” and “The Sing Off.”
Once again, Rutland radio talk show host Nanci Gordon will emcee the event. Tickets are $10, and can be purchased in advance, as seating is limited, by calling 802-438-5798; through any member of the chorus; or at the door. Refreshments will be served.
Rutland High School is located at the corner of Route 4 east and Stratton Road.
