Oct. 9-11 — WESTON — Five new, very talented Vermont artisans will be welcomed to the 32nd annual Weston Craft Show being held Columbus Day weekend. The show will take place at the Weston Playhouse on the Village Green Friday, Oct. 9 through Sunday, Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission is $8 and includes free parking.
About the five new artists:
Carolyn Gorham Guest grew up on a farm in Lyndon where she was an active 4-H member. As a young adult she spent six months living and working in Poland where she was introduce to the Polish Folk Art of Wycinanki or paper cutting. She uses only sheep shearing shears in her work as a tribute to her Polish teachers.
Neysa Russo of Bradford creates handmade felt tapestries, rugs and home décor items. Her inspiration is derived from a passion for ancient embroideries and antique textiles, and a fascination for the rich history of design.
Wanda Huff has been a fiber artist since childhood when her grandmother inspired her to create 3 dimensional figures. In recent years she has been upcycling sweaters to create her Woolie Wombats and Sweater Swimmer Fish Pillows, all guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.
Jill Listzwan has been creating whimsical, mixed-media jewelry for many years. She still enjoys the process of design and fabrication of her large, colorful pieces – lots of funky animals with individual personalities. Her popular designs include all manner of dogs and cats with attitude, colorful birds and jewel-encrusted bugs.
William Kautz began sculpting granite as a young boy next to his artist father. After obtaining a degree in theology and ethics he went to law school. With a young family to support he began to carve, hoping to earn income while he continued his studies. His designs sold as quickly as he produced them. For many years he maintained a volunteer law practice while supporting his family with his art. His work is in many galleries and museums.
Proceeds from the show support the preservation of the historic museums in Weston. Lunch catered by the Weston Marketplace is available to show attendees in the Café at the Falls overlooking the West River. For more info, visit www.westoncraftshow.com.
