Saturday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m. — RUTLAND — On Saturday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m., Phoenix Books Rutland will host acclaimed Vermont author Howard Frank Mosher for a discussion of his new novel, “God’s Kingdom.” Mosher will read an excerpt from his new book, and discuss the question “Where Does Fiction Come From?” with reference to the excerpt, then do a short question and answer session.
Set in the 1950’s, “God’s Kingdom” reveals the Kinneson family through the coming of age of the heir to its rich and complicated history, Jim. Born in the Catskill Mountains in 1942, Howard Frank Mosher has lived in Vermont’s fabled Northeast Kingdom, “God’s Kingdom,” since 1964. Mosher has two grown children with his wife of 50 years, Phillis.

His fiction set in the world of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom chronicles the intertwining family histories of the natives, wanderers, outcasts, and fugitives – white, Native American, escaped slaves fleeing north, French Canadians, and others who settled in this remote and beautiful place.
