Five-week series supports athletes of all abilities

KILLINGTON — The Mountain Times in partnership with Vermont Adaptive and Spartan Races, and with the sponsorship of ten local businesses, told the story of Vermont Adaptive athletes in a five-week series written by Killington native Anne Koch. The stories reached approximately 100,000 readers and raised $1,750 in proceeds, which will be donated to Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sport to support programing and equipment needs.

Over the course of the five-week program in The Mountain Times, adaptive participants including Jeff Messer, Amy Peacock, Annie O’Neill were profiled. Their stories were inspirational to athletes of all abilities and resonated with many local readers. Additionally, adaptive summer programs, outings and adventures were featured as well as Vermont Adaptive’s intern-turned-employee and Killington native Anne Koch.

The five-week series culminated with the Spartan Races at Killington Resort.

Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sport is the largest organization in the state of Vermont to offer daily, year-round adaptive sports programs for diverse populations of people with different abilities. They provide sports and recreation opportunities to aid physical, mental and social experience promoting self confident, independence and joy for those facing obstacles.
