Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. — RANDOLPH — Fall foliage brings the Vermont Symphony Orchestra’s annual Made in Vermont music festival on a statewide tour, and it makes its seventh stop at Chandler on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m.
The program offers two charming Scandinavian miniatures a suite by Grieg and a “Lyric Piece” by Sibelius, accompanied by student poetry. Two sublime works feature the violin, with music director Jaime Laredo soloing in Mozart’s second violin concerto, and then joined by concertmaster Katherine Winterstein in Bach’s Double Concerto. The program also includes the VSO’S traditional Vermont-themed world premiere, this season a work titled “The Ferry Crossing,” composed by Jennifer Jolley and commissioned by the VSO.
As another special treat, WhistlePig, a sponsor of the Chandler concert, will hold a tasting in the lobby of the VSO signature cocktail, “Original Sin phony.” WhistlePig, located in Shoreham, are makers of fine rye single-malt whiskeys.
