Saturday, Sept. 26—Saturday, Sept. 26 marks the 10th Annual National Museum Day Live! presented by Smithsonian magazine, which allows complimentary admission for two for the day. Local museums are taking part in the day, including the Vermont Marble Museum, Billings Farm & Museum, and the Slate Valley Museum.
From 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the Vermont Marble Museum, located on Main Street in Proctor, is offering free admission to the museum, where it will be holding its second annual carved pumpkin display, featuring over 150 pumpkins throughout the museum. Train rides from Rutland Depot to the Vermont Marble Museum will be available for a fee, as well as refreshments.
Billings Farm & Museum in Woodstock also participates as it has since the beginning of the celebration 11 years ago, offering free admission that day, and will also feature the Vermont Forest Festival with Vermont Wood Manufacturers Association members showcasing their products from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Download tickets at Smithsonian.com/museumday.
