This wooden lion went missing from Bentley’s in 2012.
WOODSTOCK — Stonewall of Woodstock, Corp., operator of Bentley’s Restaurant, announced a substantial increase to the reward being offered for the safe return of a (30-40 pound) wooden carousel lion that went missing in April 2012. A treasured artifact of great sentimental and historical value, the lion graced the entrance to the Bentley’s Cafe and Florist Shop for decades before being removed without rightful permission. Stonewall is now offering a $2,500 cash payment and a $2,500 Bentley’s dining credit for verifiable information which leads to the physical return of the carousel lion.
“It is our hope that a conscientious person with knowledge of the lion’s whereabouts will step forward and do the right thing. If the lion is returned, there will be no questions asked or follow up by authorities,” said owner John G.F. Ruggieri-Lam. He added, “This sizable monetary increase is indicative of our seriousness to see this theft rectified. Stonewall considers it a matter of principal that the lion be returned to its place of prominence at our establishment.”
