W2W celebrates 10th annual “Boating with Becky” event

BOMOSEEN—On Saturday, Aug. 29, 12 ladies of the W2W (“woman to woman”) cancer support group gathered for the 10th annual “Boating with Becky” event at Crystal Beach, Lake Bomoseen.

After enjoying a picnic lunch at the beach, member Becky Oberkirch donated the use of her pontoon boat, captained by her son Rick Oberkirch of Brandon, to take groups of women for a ride around the lake.

W2W is a support group open to women of all ages who have been diagnosed, at any time in their lives, with any type of cancer and who live in the Rutland County area.

They gather at the Rutland Regional Medical Center at 5:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month, and they enjoy many additional activities together such as art classes, kayaking, yoga, dancing, snowshoeing, picnics, Zumba™, origami, Reiki, knitting, scrapbooking, crafts, jewelry making and much more.
