On Saturday, Sept. 12 the Green Mountain Trails in Pittsfield will be putting on a 12-mile counter-clockwise lap without course crossings and will integrate the tougher “Bubba Trail,” which was previously featured in July. There is a very shallow river crossing with each lap that takes you back to the start/finish area. Organizers will send racers on a quick prologue lap before crossing the river to ensure a safe entry into the woods.
The “Bubba Trail” is a technical freeride trail which descends from “Luvin It” and ends on “Fusters.” This may be one of the most technical trails in the area, it is certainly the most technical trail I have ridden in Vermont to date. The entrance sets the tone, as one must navigate a rocky roller section with a tree stump and flat shelves in the middle to test ones metal. Narrow, steep and raw, “Bubba” is unique and a stark contrast to the fast and flowy trails found in most trail networks in Vermont.
