Sunday, Sept. 13 at 4 p.m. — PLYMOUTH NOTCH — The President Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site welcomes three outstanding regional musicians for the Grace Coolidge Musicale on Sunday, Sept. 13. Bozena O’Brien (violin), Gary Hodges (cello), and Abigail Charbeneau (piano) will perform in the Coolidge Museum & Education Center at 4 p.m. Refreshments follow at the site’s restaurant, The Wilder House. The 45-minute concert is free and open to the public; donations are welcome.
The program is an exciting blend of classical and jazz. Using the traditional piano trio instrumentation, the musical genre will be very contemporary, with elements of modern sounds, jazz, and ragtime. The trio will perform two pieces: “Swing Shift” by Kenji Bunch (who is hailed as a composer to watch by The New York Times), and “Café Music” by Paul Schoenfield. Both selections pay tribute to the early jazz era, which coincides with the years of the Coolidge administration.
