Trail of the week: War Man

By Tony Accurso

War Man is a fun trail in the Green Mountain Trails system in Pittsfield.  This trail consists of 20 switchbacks in less than half a mile, and was improved by trail builders Sinuosity in 2010. Volunteers organized by Jason Hayden worked with Sinuosity to move large amounts of dirt and rock to form the berms in the switchbacks. Descending this trail from the Green Trail or after riding Labyrinth is a great way to go, although it climbs well too.

Connect this to Stone Wall and Noodles Revenge to descend back to Riverside Farm, or connect Stone Wall to Luvin it and climb back to the top for a longer loop.

Tony Accurso is the owner of Alpine Bike Works and Fat Bikes of Vermont located at 2046 Route 4 in Killington.
