62nd Annual Shrine Game kicks off on Aug. 1

CASTLETON –   The 62st Annual Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl will kick off on Aug. 1 at 5:30 p.m. on Castleton College’s Spartan Field and, as always, the game will be preceded by a spectacular Shrine Parade on Castleton’s Main St starting at 3:30 p.m. The parade will feature Shrine units from around the Northeast with an incredible display of miniature vehicles, motorcycle groups and bands that will turn onto South Street and pass by the football stadium. Plenty of parking is available on campus and along Main Street.

For the 10th year the parade and halftime show will feature an all-star high school band of over 100 talented musicians from high schools throughout N.H. and Vt. And it’s all for the world’s greatest philanthropy, that of supporting Shrine Hospitals for Children having orthopedic conditions and burns. The net proceeds of the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl go to our three regional hospitals.

The Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl is sponsored by Cairo and Mt. Sinai Shrine Centers of Rutland and Montpelier. The Shrine Centers are ecstatic that Castleton has stepped up to support the Bowl on their beautiful campus and stadium. They have hosted the training camp for the past two years and playing the game there is a great opportunity for fans to see the College.

As a reminder, the game had to be moved from Dartmouth because of stadium renovations. Organizers invite football fans from both states to witness theses spectacular events for supporting Shrine children’s hospitals.
