Saturday, July 18 at 4 p.m. — HUBBARDTON — Following a very successful and exciting Hubbardton 250th Birthday celebration in 2014, the town of Hubbardton has decided to have an annual Hubbardton Days celebration. This year, Saturday, July 18 will be the first annual Hubbardton Days celebration, held at the Hubbardton Battlefield, located on Monument Hill Road in Hubbardton. The celebration begins at 4 p.m. Bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. In the event of rain, the celebration will move to Sunday, July 19 — same place and time.
There are activities scheduled for both children and adults. Children’s games and contests will begin at 4 p.m. and there will be prizes and surprises. At the same time, for the adults, there will be a horseshoe throwing contest and the extremely popular “women only” frying pan throwing contest. This event was held last year and drew 23 competitors and is bound to draw a lot of attention. Cash prizes will be awarded to the adult winners.
Throughout the day, there will be fried bread dough, ice cream, hamburgers and hot dogs available for purchase, as well as a raffle with cash prizes, music and a 50/50 drawing. The face painting lady will work her magic with amazing creative art.
Beginning at 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., a pig roast and chicken barbecue with all the fixin’s will fill your belly. for the main event of the celebration.
Music during the evening will be provided by the Mt. Independence Seth Warner Fife and Drum Corps and the exciting sounds of the Poultney Bluegrass Society. Then, taking center stage at 7 p.m. will be Celtic-flavored musical group Gypsy Reel. They play high energy, world blend style music, and have performed all over the Northeast from New York to Maine. They will perform fro 7 to 9 p.m.
