Saturday, July 18—KILLINGTON—The Dirty Dozen Brass Band returns to Killington’s summer concert stage on Saturday, July 18, 3:30-6 p.m. Dirty Dozen’s free show at the K-1 Base Area kicks off the Town of Killington’s sixth annual Cooler in the Mountains summer concert series.
The Dirty Dozen Brass Band is a world-famous ensemble known for incorporating funk and bebop into traditional New Orleans jazz and blues. They’ve been embraced enthusiastically by the jam-band followers at Bonnaroo as well as by the devotees who flock to the yearly New Orleans Jazz Fest. Acts like the Black Crowes and Widespread Panic have taken them on tour and artists from Dizzy Gillespie to Elvis Costello to Norah Jones have joined them in the studio.
Cooler in the Mountains concerts are free, family-friendly events scheduled on Saturday afternoons, July 18-25 and Aug. 8-Sept. 5. The concerts feature Long Trail beer tastings along with lawn games and outdoor fun, and all in attendance will have the chance to win a 2015-2016 Killington season pass, which will be given away at the conclusion of the series.
Concertgoers are encouraged to come early to enjoy the new Snowshed Adventure Center, and can enjoy dinner after the show at eating establishments along Killington Road.
