Saturday, July 11 at 7:30 p.m. — BRANDON — Hailing from the West Coast of British Columbia, Jocelyn Pettit is a vibrant fiddle player, stepdancer, singer and composer. Pettit delivers an engaging and uplifting performance of original and traditional music inspired from the Canadian and Celtic cultures of Cape Breton, Québec, Ireland, Scotland, Brittany (FRA), and Galicia (ESP). She and her band perform at Brandon Music on Saturday, July 11 at 7:30 p.m.

Strings Magazine says “one suspects we’ll be hearing of Pettit for years to come — the next generation of Celtic music is in good hands” and FolkWorld Magazine in Germany says Jocelyn is “a top-notch musician, and major emerging talent.”

The four-piece band performs a high-energy fusion of folk traditions they call ‘Blazing New-Trad Celtic’ with Canadian stepdancing, lively fiddling, podorythmie foot rhythms, and vocals, backed by piano, guitar, and percussion.

Joining Jocelyn is Siew Wan Khoo (piano, fiddle, vocals), Joel Pettit (bodhrán, cajon, vocals), and NYC-based guest guitarist, Greg Anderson, a member of the Eileen Ivers Band.

Jocelyn has performed on stages across Canada, the U.S., Scotland, France, and Malaysia and received two Canadian Folk Music Award nominations for World Artist of the Year and Young Performer of the Year. She played at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Victory Medal Ceremony; shared the stage with Scottish legends, The Battlefield Band; and performed with Irish supergroup, The Chieftains as part of their 50th Anniversary World Tour.

Concert tickets are $20. Reservations are highly recommended for the show and required for dinner, also available. Venue is BYOB.

Brandon Music is located at 62 Country Club Road, Brandon. For more info, call 802-247-4295 or e-mail info@brandon-music.net.
