BROC receives HUD grant

BROC-Community Action in Southwestern Vermont announced June 23 that it had received a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) in the amount of $17,947. HUD awarded nearly $6 million in grants to hundreds of national, regional and local organizations to help families and individuals with their housing needs and to prevent future foreclosures.

According to Elizabeth Eddy, Community Services & Outreach Program Manager at BROC, “HUD support will lead to increased capacity in Rutland County as BROC provides counseling to clients of all ages and income groups who are seeking rental housing or the supports needed to remain housed.”

In fiscal year 2014, BROC served 729 individuals needing housing assistance.
