Summer Festival Tour brings “Spellbound” to the hills of Vermont
Wednesday, July 1 at 7:30 p.m. — CHITTENDEN — The annual Vermont Symphony Orchestra Summer Festival Tour begins in Chittenden at the Mountain Top Inn and Resort on July 1. Music lovers can celebrate the long-awaited coming of summer with picnics, pops and fireworks.
On Wednesday, July 1 the Orchestra will begin its tour of the state. “We start getting calls about our Summer Festival Tour around February,” says Marketing Director Amy Caldwell. “This tour has become a Vermont summer tradition, and we love bringing an evening of great music and fireworks — paired with our fans’ perfect picnics — to spectacular outdoor settings across Vermont.” The concerts begins at 7:30 p.m. and gates open at 5:30 p.m. for picnicking.
As if a summer’s evening in Vermont weren’t magical enough already…under the baton of principal guest conductor, Anthony Princiotti, the VSO conjures up a dreamscape of enchantment. Wizards, witches, and trolls, oh my! The musical sorcery spirits you to Middle Earth, and then safely back to your picnic spread. As always, the concert concludes with the spectacular 1812 Overture, marches, and fireworks.
To celebrate 80 years of beautiful music in beautiful venues throughout Vermont, the VSO has commissioned seven Vermont composers to write 80-second fanfares which will open each of the full orchestra concerts. Peter Hamlin will be the featured composer with his piece “The Ghost of John Philip Sousa.”

The Vermont Symphony Orchestra is the only professional statewide orchestra that provides live musical experiences for listeners in Vermont.
