GMNGC hosts Killington Junior Golf Championship, June 22-25

KILLINGTON — The American Junior Golf Association will return to Killington for the sixth year when Green Mountain National Golf Course hosts the Killington Junior Golf Championship, held June 22-25. Junior golfers from across the United States and several other countries will compete in this 54-hole stroke play event.

The 2015 Killington Junior Golf Championship tournament will feature 144 golfers from 20 states, Canada, Thailand, and China. The event is open to boys and girls, ages 12-18.

Last year’s event provided a significant boost to local hotels and restaurants and contributing an estimated $250,000 to the local economy. (The estimated economic impact is calculated based upon information provided in “A Benchmark Study of the Economic Impact of Visitor Expenditures on the Vermont Economy – 2011”.)

“The tournament has provided a needed boost to rooms, meals and retail revenue during a historically quiet time,” said Town Manager Seth Webb. “It has also provided good exposure of our golf course to a key golf audience and we’re looking forward to continuing our relationship with the AJGA in upcoming years.”

2014 Killington Junior Golf Champions were Justin Lane of Woodstock, N.Y. and Madeline Chou of Santa Ana, Calif.
