June 18-19 at 7 p.m. — RUTLAND — Rutland High School’s music and theatre departments will present the musical “Pippin” on June 18 and 19 at 7 p.m. each night, at the Paramount Theatre. Over 60 students including some alumni will bring this classic Tony award winning musical to life.
“Pippin” is a play within a play. It opens as a troupe of traveling gypsy players arrive to present a performance that promises a finale to end all finales, “The Life and Times of Pippin.” Pippin is the son of Charlemagne who believes himself to be extraordinary; he is looking for something that makes his life special. The gypsy players take on the roles of the various people in his life: his father, step-mother, half-brother, etc. Pippin journeys through life trying many things until …Come to the show to find out where his journey leads him. Along the way there is magic, a battle, some love and a sing-a-long. As the leading player says “come and spend an hour or two.”
