Friday, June 12 at 5 p.m. — RUTLAND — The Chaffee Art Center announces the opening of “Images of Love and Community,” a three-piece photography exhibit featuring the PhotoVoice project, (Un)covering Rutland project, and Chaffee’s 8th Annual Photography Contest. The exhibit will be hosted at the Chaffee Art Center at 16 South Main Street, Rutland, and will open with a reception on Friday, June 12 from 5-7 p.m. The exhibit runs through July 25.
The PhotoVoice project consisted of nine residents of Rutland’s Northwest neighborhood capturing their community through photography. (Un)covering Rutland project began as an assignment for an art class at Green Mountain College. The students travelled a minimum of three times to Rutland to capture Rutland as they saw it. Both projects will showcase Rutland through the eyes of its residents and visitors, moving past the headlines to frame the daily life of a historic city.
The Chaffee’s 8th Annual Photography contest’s theme is “Images of Love.” Interpretation is left up to the photographer providing an insight of how each individual views love.
Awards will be given for first, second, and third prize. In addition, the public will be able to vote for their favorite, and a People’s Choice Award will also be given. Public voting starts Friday, June 12 and closes Friday, June 26 at 6 p.m. The Chaffee will hold an awards ceremony and reception on Friday, June 26 from 5 to 7 p.m.
