Rutland woman faces felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident; passenger injured

FAIR HAVEN — On June 8, troopers, along with the Fair Haven police department, responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle crash that occurred on Bolger Road in the town of Fair Haven, Vt. at approximately 12:09 a.m. The passenger (whom the police did not identify) was able to walk to a nearby residence, where she had called for help. The passenger in the vehicle sustained serious injury, and was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center.

The operator of the vehicle fled the scene. State Police deployed a K-9 to search the area, but were unsuccessful in locating her. Investigation revealed that the operator was Nicole Flanders, 20, of Rutland. Flanders met with investigating troopers at 5:45 p.m., and was issued a citation to appear in Rutland Criminal Court.

Flanders faces the charge of Felony Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

The vehicle, a 2005 Nissan X-Terra, was deemed a total loss.
