Saturday, June 6 — WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Two workshops will be held on Saturday, June 6 in White River Junction as a fundraiser for the Veteran’s Yoga Project, an organization supporting recovery and resilience among veterans, their families, and our communities.
“Self Care for the Soul: breaking through the limitations” will focus on the five core limitations and five shadows people face throughout life, often daily, and offer five mini-yoga practices to break through. The practices include the asanas (poses), breathing, and meditation. Even if a participant is unable to do the asanas, there is a wealth of useful material. The class will be 12-2:30 p.m., Saturday, June 6.
“Yoga has made such a difference in my life in healing limiting beliefs and challenging thought processes from old traumas,” says Wendy Reese, 200 RYT and workshop presenter. “Over the past 14 years of teaching I have seen yoga transform hundreds of lives. I love taking the ancient yogic wisdom and applying it to modern living.” The class is all levels.
“Mindful Resilience Yoga” workshop will explore what trauma is and how it may show up on a daily basis. Ways to improve sleep, decrease pain, and have an over all better mood, or more generally how to be ‘resilient,’ will be introduced. Students will learn that they have the strength, stability, and flexibility to work through life’s inevitable challenges and traumas. This workshop will be 5:30-8 p.m., Saturday, June 6.
“This workshop was created for those who are looking to use yoga as more than a way to become physically flexible,” shares Brianna Renner, 200 RYT and workshop presenter. “Yoga can be for every body. It is my hope that through this workshop, students will discover the resilience they have within themselves to breathe a little easier, focus a little clearer and have an attitude of gratitude.”
Reese has been teaching yoga for 14 years. She is a lifestyle strategist, clarity and confidence coach, author, and podcast host. Renner is a full-time mom, former Marine, and ballerina with five years yoga teaching experience. She is currently an Ambassador and Director of Outreach for the Veterans Yoga Project and co-founder of Namaste Newport, a yoga collective in Newport, N.H. Both women are 300 hour, advanced yoga teacher candidates. These projects are their culminating work.
The workshops will be held at Upper Valley Yoga, 58 North Main Street, White River Junction,. Both are donation based with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting the Veteran’s Yoga Project, www.veteransyogaproject.org. To register, email Liz Heffernan at somayogainstitute@gmail.com.
