Many wild plants in our local forests are edible; learn which ones in VINS talk.
Sunday, May 31 — QUECHEE — The Vermont Institute of Natural Science presents “Foraging for Wild Plants with Arthur Haines” on Sunday, May 31, from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the VINS Nature Center in Quechee, Vt. Wild plants found in the Northeast can add variety to one’s diet and supply rich nutrients that are not always found in cultivated species. Spend a fascinating afternoon in the wild with instructor Arthur Haines,author of Flora Novae Angliae, learning how to identify, harvest and prepare wild plants found in central Vermont. The program is presented in partnership with the New England Wild Flower Society.
The cost of the program is $23 for members of VINS or the New England Wildflower Society and $28 for non-members. Registration is required by May 29. Availability is limited.
Regular admission is included with registration fee. Regular admission to the Nature Center is $13.50 for adults, $12.50 for seniors 62 and over, $11.50 for youth ages 4 to 17, and free for members and for children 3 and under. For more information about VINS visit www.vinsweb.org.
