Rochester bridge work to cause delays

ROCHESTER—During the week of May 18, construction is scheduled to continue on the new Bridge 19 over the White River on Vermont Route 73 in Rochester. The deck is scheduled to be poured on Wednesday, May 20, depending on weather conditions. There will be concrete truck traffic through town on the day of the pour, with approximately 20 round trips, with the first truck from Middlebury arriving at the bridge around 8 a.m.

Traffic delays are expected for most of Wednesday, May 20. Route 100 south of the village will be down to one way alternating traffic, controlled by flaggers. Signage will be posted to alert drivers approaching the work area.

Until the new bridge is finished, the two-lane temporary bridge will continue to carry traffic over the White River. Vermont Route 100 will be open to two way traffic as usual. Only short duration traffic impacts are expected during construction.

Bridge 19 is scheduled to be completed and opened to traffic this summer.

For future construction updates and additional project information, visit www.rmw.vtransprojects.vermont.gov or call (802) 496-3376.
