Wednesday, May 27 at 7:30 p.m. — PITTSFIELD — Students of pianist Marilyn Taggart will give a concert on Wednesday, May 27 at 7:30 p.m. at The Barn at Riverside Farm, on Route 100 in Pittsfield.
The concert is free and open to the public. Parents and children interested in piano study are encouraged to attend the concert and stay to talk to Mrs. Taggart, the student performers, and their parents at a reception following the concert.
The performers range in age from kindergarten to high school. Two of the advanced students also performed last week in Randolph, at Chandler Music Hall’s seventh annual “The Next Generation” concert, a special “by audition only” event featuring serious high school performers of classical music from Vermont and nearby New Hampshire. In the seven years Chandler has been hosting this event, 11 of Mrs. Taggart’s students have performed in these concerts, several more than once. Her students have also performed in both Woodstock and Middlebury in similar showcase events.
Playing pieces from “Mary Had a Little Lamb” to Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and Debussy will be Jack and Catherine Desena and Abigail Masillo, of Pittsfield; Liam and Ben McKenna, Killington; Fiona Vaillancourt, Bethel; Max Farrington, Stockbridge; Jack Brandon, Randolph; Gillian Smoller, Barre; and Joseph and Jonathan Goff, Hanover N.H..
