KILLINGTON — The Killington Deli & Marketplace and Vermont State Liquor Store was crowned 2015 Iron Chef champions, beating out 10 other teams at the 9th Annual Iron Chef Party, Wednesday, April 8 at Sushi Yoshi. The Foundry finished second with The Garlic (the defending champions) in third.
The Deli’s winning menu featured extra large shrimp, pineapple salsa and a flaming cocktail, aptly named “Some Like It HOT.” The Foundry’s menu featured the late Chris Franco’s specialties, a fitting tribute, while The Garlic took a cajun flare using frog legs, alligator, and crawfish in their dishes.
This years’ Iron Chef benefitted the Chris Franco Memorial Scholarship, awarded to Stafford Technical Center students in the Culinary Arts program and who plan to pursue further education and/or who use tools of the industry as they strive to uphold the high standards that Chef Franco held for himself and those with whom he worked.
