Adam Pullinen joins College of St. Joseph as men’s soccer coach

RUTLAND — College of St. Joseph has named Adam Pullinen as men’s head soccer coach.

Pullinen brings a wealth of experience with him to CSJ. A native of Ludlow, Vt., he has served as head coach for teams across New York, including Westchester Flames U-15 boy’s team, New York City Soccer Academy, and New York Premier Soccer Academy. He also has assistant coaching experience at United States Merchant Marine Academy, Castleton State College, Adelphi University, and Columbia University.

In addition to coaching, Pullinen has played for teams including Westchester Flames, a United Soccer League Division II Professional League team, and several other semi-professional teams. Pullinen also holds several NSCAA coaching certifications.

“I would like to thank Dr. Lloyd, Melissa Paradee, and Bob Godlewski for hiring me,” Pullinen said. “I am very excited to start coaching at CSJ. I am looking to add a few more games to the schedule for the fall and to build off of the success that they had last year.”

For Pullinen, that success will come from things like “creating a great locker room environment” and “a winning team mentality,” and will begin early in pre-season training.

“I plan on having organized, competitive and fun training sessions that will help prepare the players for how we want to play in the games,” he said.

With over a decade of coaching experience under his belt, one of the most important things about being a coach is the interaction with student-athletes.

“My coaching style is geared toward the players. I consider myself a player’s coach,” he said. “I believe in building strong relationships with the players and in building positive team chemistry.”
