Hibernation puts Bear parks to rest for the season

By Robin Alberti

Get last laps in on the terrain park at Bear Mountain at Hibernation park jam on March 28, before the metal goes back into the shop after a great season.

Saturday, March 28 — KILLINGTON — Send Bear Mountain parks out in style! Another great season with Killington Parks is once again coming to an end. Before they put the metal back in the shop, lap the parks for one last spring event. Soft landings, good vibes, goggle tans and lunch are all on the agenda for Saturday, March 28 at Killington Resort’s Bear Mountain.

You’ve been hitting Killington Parks all season long, and it’s time for a Parks Appreciation Day with Shred Sessions. Start the morning off in Dream Maker Terrain Park with the park crew starting at 9 a.m. They’ll be lapping the park and tossing swag to anyone stomping tricks and having a good time.

At noon, meet at the bottom of the Superpipe for lunch and music! The lunch is for Park Jam competitors only, so make sure you register early. Then check out the venue – the park crew will be giving the rail garden at the Superpipe one last facelift for the season, so expect a superb setup. They’re getting creative with a laid-back format and some sweet prizes, too. Session the venue, impress the judges, and get a place on the podium with great prizes to go with it.

Early registration for the Hibernation Park Jam opened March 9; online registration will be open until 1 p.m. on March 27. If spots are still available, day-of registration will take place on the third floor of Bear Mountain Lodge from 8 – 10:30 a.m. The entry fee for all divisions is $20, which includes lunch. Competitors will be required to have a season pass or lift ticket in order to compete. Discounted lift tickets for competitors will be available for purchase. The competition is open to men and women, skiers and snowboarders, as well as groms. Awards follow the jams, at 2:30 p.m.
