Thursday, March 26 at 6 p.m. — WOODSTOCK — Ever wonder how archaeologists are able to reconstruct the lives and societies of people in the past? Come to a three part lecture series on Egyptian archaeology entitled, “Abydos: How we know what we know,” hosted by the Norman Williams Public Library. The speaker, Virginia Bones, a WUHS alumna and recent graduate of University College London with a BA in Egyptian Archaeology, will lead a journey through 3,000 years of Egyptian culture and explain how an ivory tag and pot shards can give insights to the religion, political power, and technological achievements of the ancient Egyptians. Join the discussion at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, April 9 and April 23 to explore one of Egypt’s most important archaeological sites.

Virginia Bones is a Woodstock alumna, class of 2011, and has been fascinated by ancient Egypt since she was 9 years old. She recently graduated with a BA in Egyptian Archaeology from University College London, class of  2014, and will return to UCL for a Masters in September, 2015.
