RUTLAND—The College of St. Joseph has named student T’Mia Ross as the Mother Teresa Student Service Award recipient and CSJ trustee Tom Dowling as this year’s recipient of the Pour Le Merite award.
At the college’s 21st annual Founders’ Day on March 19, Dowling and Ross will be recognized for their outstanding care, support and leadership in the community.
Ross, a sophomore originally from Chicago, has made CSJ home over the past two years and strives to make others feel the same way. Last November, Ross decided to cook and host a Thanksgiving meal for students who were unable to travel home for the holiday. Ross is a proud member of the college’s hallmark Provider Scholarship Program, which provides financial assistance to students who devote 15 hours to community engagement each semester, participate in a campus event, attend development seminars and maintain good academic standing.
Dowling is an attorney with Ryan Smith & Carbine. A graduate of University of Notre Dame Law School and St. Ambrose College, his substantial engagement in volunteer activities has contributed to the betterment of the greater Rutland area. Dowling is also a member of College of St. Joseph’s Board of Trustees.
Founders’ Day will be held at 2 p.m., March 19, in Tuttle Hall Theater. The college commemorates the Sisters of St. Joseph through several activities throughout the day, including the alumni candlelight ceremony and the presentation of the two awards.
The event is free and open to the public.
