UPDATE: Two wings (section C and D) were destroyed by the fire that broke out at the Innsbrook Townhouses late Saturday night. All occupants escaped safely, firefighters reported.
The 16-condo complex had four wings, A, B, C and D. The latter two were burned to the ground. The condition of the other wings remains unclear.
The fire took about six hours to extinguish. Among other factors the sub-zero temperatures and low water pressure made the fire more difficult to put out, firefighters reported from Killington and Rutland.
Onlookers reported seeing the fire’s blaze rise multiple stories high into the air.
About 600 families rent timeshares at the Killington Townhouse condos, stated Paul Kaufman, president of the Killington Townhouses, adding that the future of the complex is undetermined at this point in time.

KILLINGTON— Early morning Saturday, March 7, firefighters were called to the scene of a major fire at 48 Innsbruck Lane, where 16 townhouses are located. (Roughly behind Peppino’s Restaurant and Mountain Sports Inn on the lower portion of Killington Road.) Witnesses say they first noticed the fire at about 12:30 a.m. and soon thereafter the glow from the fire could be seen from quite a distance indicating that it spread fairly quickly.
Firefighters from Killington and Rutland reportedly were already on the scene but both ladder trucks had problems getting water to flow.
Sources say residence were evacuated safely, but so far that has not been confirmed.
