KILLINGTON — As the first of two President’s weeks is upon the region, Killington Resort is holding a number of events to keep guests busy both on and off the slopes. Many of the events take place after the lifts stop running, so you can enjoy all the fresh snow that has blanketed the area!
On Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 14 and 15, Jeep takes over The Beast with V.I. Parking, cool swag, and free Killington lift tickets. Treat your Jeep to Preferred Parking at Ramshead Lodge all weekend long.
Saturday is also Icelantic Ski Demo Day. Check out the latest gear from Icelantic Skis, set up at the base of Superstar Trail, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. You’ll need a credit card to demo, just for security reasons. The demo is free.
On Sunday, Feb. 15, the Killington Grand Hotel hosts a special interactive raptor encounter with Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) at 7 p.m. Live falcons, hawks and owls provide the lens through which we examine food webs, predator-prey relationships and the interdependence of the systems that support life. This first-hand encounter enables participants to understand the defining characteristics that make a bird a raptor and their adaptations for life as a predator on the wing. Touchable artifacts and hands-on materials round out this special experience.
Back on the hill, Killington hosts the Go Green Scavenger Hunt on Monday, Feb. 16. A resort-wide event, celebrate the resort’s commitment to renewable energy by searching for Cow Power logos scattered around the resort. Registration is from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Snowshed Base Area or Killington Grand Resort Hotel. The scavenger hunt goes all day, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. All Cow Power logos will be hidden on green circle trails only.
Monday afternoon at Ramshead Lodge, kids can enjoy building their own stuffed teddy bear following a fun day on the mountain. Quantities are limited; sign up in advance at the Ramshead Ticket Counter beginning Saturday, Feb. 14.
Tuesday is Fat Tuesday, and you can join in a Fat Tuesday celebration, Killington style. On third floor of Ramshead Lodge, kids can enjoy a Mardi Gras mask making party complete with complimentary ice cream.
Later that evening, the VINS raptors return to the Killington Grand Hotel for another encounter, at 7 p.m.
